Observers believe that the relationship between India and Bangladesh is not one-sided

সম্প্রতি ভারতের প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী রাজনাথ সিং দেশটির সামরিক বাহিনীর শীর্ষ স্থানীয় কমান্ডারদের বাংলাদেশে চলমান পরিস্থিতির দিকে নজর রাখতে বলেছেন। ভারতের প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রীর এই বক্তব্যের পর এ নিয়ে বাংলাদেশেও এক ধরনের প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখা যাচ্ছে।

Recently, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh asked the top local commanders of the country's military to keep an eye on the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. After this speech of the Defense Minister of India, there is a kind of reaction in Bangladesh.

ভারতের সংবাদমাধ্যমের খবরে বলা হচ্ছে ওই বক্তব্যে বাংলাদেশের পরিস্থিতি পর্যবেক্ষণের পাশাপাশি মি. সিং সশস্ত্র বাহিনীকে ভবিষ্যৎ যুদ্ধ মোকাবিলার জন্য তৈরি থাকতে বলেছেন।

According to Indian media reports, in addition to monitoring the situation in Bangladesh, Mr. Singh asked the armed forces to be prepared to face future wars.

প্রতিবেশী দেশটির গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একজন মন্ত্রীর এমন বক্তব্যকে স্বাভাবিকভাবে নিচ্ছেন না বাংলাদেশের কূটনীতিক ও নিরাপত্তা বিশ্লেষকরা।

তারা বলছেন, এই ধরনের বক্তব্য বাংলাদেশের নিরাপত্তার জন্য উদ্বেগের।

Diplomats and security analysts of Bangladesh are not taking such a statement of an important minister of the neighboring country as normal.

They say that such statements are of concern for the security of Bangladesh.

বাংলাদেশ ইন্সটিটিউট অফ পিস অ্যান্ড সিকিউরিটি স্টাডিজের সভাপতি ও নিরাপত্তা বিশ্লেষক অবসরপ্রাপ্ত মেজর জেনারেল আ ন ম মুনীরুজ্জামান বিবিসি বাংলাকে বলেন, ‘মি. সিং উচ্চ পর্যায়ের একটি সভা থেকে এই ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন। যে কারণে বাংলাদেশের এটি নিয়ে অবশ্যই উদ্বেগের কারণ রয়েছে”।

Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies president and security analyst retired Major General ANM Muniruzzaman told BBC Bangla, 'Mr. Singh made the announcement from a high-level meeting. That is why Bangladesh definitely has reason to worry about it”.

তবে ভারতের নিরাপত্তা বিশ্লেষকদের মত হচ্ছে, এই ধরনের নির্দেশনা খুব সাধারণ একটি বিষয়। বাংলাদেশের এ নিয়ে চিন্তিত হওয়ার খুব বেশি কারণ নেই।

But India's security analysts say such directives are all too common. Bangladesh does not have much reason to worry about this.

ভারতের সাউথ এশিয়া ইন্সটিটিউট ফর ডিফেন্স স্টাডিজ অ্যান্ড অ্যানালাইসিসের রিসার্চ ফেলো স্ম্রুতি পট্টানায়েক বিবিসি বাংলাকে বলেন, “আমার মনে হয় মি. সিং জেনেরিক টার্মে এই কথাটি বলেছেন। ভারত বাংলাদেশের সাথে যুদ্ধ করবে এই সম্ভাবনা আমি কখনো দেখি না”।

India's South Asia Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis Research Fellow Smruti Pattanaik told BBC Bangla, "I think Mr. Singh says this in generic terms. I never see the possibility that India will go to war with Bangladesh”.
